Sjoerd Wess had the awesome opportunity to document Noise From Iceland for Artlist.io I tagged along to capture all the behind-the-scenes action.
To be honest, the first two days in Iceland were a tad disappointing. Why? Well, it was super touristy, which we expected beforehand, but it was way more crowded than we anticipated. Everything is fenced off with designated walking paths. Another thing that got us was the crazy long drives to some spots. We were staying in a hotel in Reykjavik, so we had to drive back there every day, spending 8 to 9 hours in the car. Not exactly what we had in mind.
Don’t get me wrong, though. The spots and landscapes were truly out of this world! You won’t find anything like it elsewhere. But for the purpose of our trip, it was a bit underwhelming. Luckily, we had Kaska (Noise From Iceland) with us, who’s been living in Iceland for 7 years now. After the second day, she suggested exploring more remote and tourist-free spots. You can imagine how thrilled we were with that idea! Finally, we could capture shots and locations without any tourists around. And that’s when Iceland completely blew my mind with its breathtaking landscapes and nature.
To sum it up, it was an incredibly special trip. We got to experience Iceland from a perspective that you don’t usually see on Instagram. That’s what really surprised and amazed me. Huge thanks to Kaska for taking us on this unique experience, and of course, a shoutout to my buddy Sjoerd Wess for taking me on this wild adventure to a place I’ve been dreaming of visiting.
